What do you do after a career that encompasses climbing the corporate ladder, starting your own consulting firm, growing the business to become a leader in its industry, and then selling this enterprise to a multi-national corporation? Why, start a winery of course.
With an academic background that includes an undergraduate engineering degree and a PhD in food science, Chaim Gur-Arieh brings a unique perspective to the world of wine. This foundation guides his vision on both the production side and on the sensory side of crafting great wine. With his wife Elisheva (an accomplished artist in her own right), the couple has embarked on a journey to unite art and science with wine.
One of their offerings is the 2005 Di Arie Primitivo. If you like Zinfandel, you will love Primitivo (they are genetic clones). In the glass, this wine is medium in color and opaque. With swirling, the aromatics soar with spices and red fruits. In the mouth, richly textured flavors of red and black fruits are followed by a lengthy and satisfying finish.
Enjoy the Di Arie Primitivo with a spice rubbed tri-tip roast that has been grilled and some garlicky potatoes. As you are eating, close your eyes and consider the convergence of art, science, and wine.
